QCAP Announces Extra Mile Award Winners
Holds Elections For Neighborhood Representatives To Board Of Directors
Quincy, MA - The Quincy Community Action Programs, Inc. (QCAP) Board of Directors will honor its award winners and induct board members and officers at its Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony. The meeting is open to the community, and will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at The Tirrell Room, Quincy Lodge of Elks, 254 Quarry Street, Quincy, MA.
At the meeting, The Board of Directors will recognize several community members with Extra Mile Community Awards for their dedicated support of QCAP, our clients, and the community. This year’s award recipients include Dr. Arian DiNapoli, Granite Links Golf Club, and a posthumous award will be presented in honor of Dan Scharfman In addition, Helen Ferullo, Head Start Family Service Worker, will be presented the Lois Craig Employee Award, for her outstanding leadership and exemplary service. Twenty-year Service Awards will also be presented.
“QCAP is especially honored to recognize significant contributions of our Extra Mile award recipients and employees this year,” said Beth Ann Strollo, QCAP’s Executive Director. “We have much to celebrate despite the trying times thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our staff, Board, and community partners.”
As one of Massachusetts’ 24 Community Action Agencies (CAAs), one-third of QCAP’s board is comprised of representatives of low-income residents. These representatives are elected to serve on QCAP’s board by low-income residents of the North Quincy/Atlantic, Germantown, Quincy Point and Southwest neighborhoods of the City of Quincy, Head Start Policy Council, and Lakeview Manor Tenants Association. Residents of these neighborhoods, who are at or below 175% of the poverty level, are encouraged to vote in the QCAP board election. Voting will take place in Germantown, the Fore River Clubhouse, the Southwest Community Center at 1 Copeland Street, and the North Quincy Community Center. Eligible residents may vote by walking-in and completing a ballot at the appropriate location.
