QCAP offers a variety of services designed to make sure that children grow up healthy, are ready to start school and are cared for in safe stimulating early education and care settings. We also offer programs that support parents and caregivers so they can work, attend school and strive to build a better life for their families.
QCAP Welcomes Families to Parenting Conference

Quincy, MA – The Quincy/Braintree Family Network – a program of Quincy Community Action Programs, Inc. (QCAP) – invites parents to its first-ever “Building Family Relationships,” an opportunity to learn new strategies and strengthen parenting skills all while sharing in a hot cup of coffee. The free conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at QCAP’s new Head Start Early Learning Center, 22 Pray Street, in Quincy.
The event features a keynote address from motivational speaker, Ellen Rogers, who will share her own personal story of how she transitioned from being a never-present mother to an ever-present one, even as she juggled the responsibilities of work and home. Participants can also select from a series of workshops including “Fostering Self-Esteem in Children,” with presenter Jane Murray; “Positive and Effective Discipline,” led by Alan S. Jacobson, on using rewards and absence of rewards to build positive behavior; “Building Literacy Skills at Home,” with practical ideas to develop reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills, presented by Laura Mason Zeisler; “Let’s Get Organized,” presented by Cheri McLane for parents of special needs children; and “Parenting Within the Chinese Culture,” a workshop presented in Cantonese and led by Aileen Lee.
Sponsored by QCAP’s Family and Community Engagement programs with funding from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care through the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant, the conference is free to area families, but registration is required.
