ENERGY PROGRAMS

QCAP offers a range of Energy Programs that help people save money on their heating costs. The Heating Assistance program helps households by paying a portion of their annual winter heating costs. Energy conservation services help with home improvements that improve efficiency and lower household heating costs. QCAP’s Energy Program serves the towns of Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree, and Milton.

 

Heating Assistance

For heating emergencies, including heating system emergencies, please contact 617-657-5354.

No matter what type of heating system you have, QCAP’s Heating Assistance program can help you pay your winter heating bills. This can include helping tenants with heat included in their rent. The program helps with heating costs for the months of November through April. We make payments right to your heating company up to a maximum benefit level.

Returning customers will receive their applications in the mail. You must sign your application when you submit it.

SIGNED APPLICATIONS may be submitted:

  • In-Person: at the NEW QCAP RESOURCE CENTER located at 1511 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02169 and is open for walk-ins Monday-Friday 10:00am – 3:00pm. 
  • Secure Locked Drop Box: 1511 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA. 02169 between 8:30am – 5:00pm. This is a secure and confidential drop box available if you prefer to drop off your application. You may drop your full application packet in QCAP’s locked drop box.  
  • Mail: QCAP Energy Program, 1509 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA. 02169

New applicants may apply for the heating season 2022-2023 by calling QCAP’s Energy Program for an appointment at 617-657-5301.

Heating assistance is for low-income households in the towns of Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree, and Milton with incomes at or below 60% of the estimated state median income. Click here for the Heating Assistance Income Eligibility Chart.

Utility Discounts

If you qualify for heating assistance you may also get discounts on your National Grid and Eversource bills. Heating Assistance staff will notify these companies of your eligibility and the discount will be applied to your account. The discounts can save you up to 36% on your gas and/or electric bills.

Heating System Repair & Replacement

Homeowners who receive heating assistance can also get help to repair or even replace inefficient or inoperable heating systems. Regular clean, tune and evaluation services are also available to keep your heating system in good working order.

 

Energy Conservation

Homeowners and renters eligible for heating assistance can access a variety of weatherization services to help make their homes energy efficient. QCAP will conduct a free energy audit of your home to find air leaks and arrange for a contractor to perform needed weatherization work including attic and wall insulation, weather stripping, and air sealing.

 

Utility Sponsored Energy Conservation Programs

QCAP works cooperatively with local utility companies to offer special energy conservation programs designed to reduce your utility bills and help you conserve energy. Services include weatherization and heating system replacements for National Grid, Eversource, and BELD customers. In addition, National Grid and Eversource customers can learn how to save energy and money through a free appliance and electric usage audit. You will also receive free energy efficient light bulbs, and possibly a new refrigerator, air conditioner, dehumidifier, and washing machine if yours are high-energy users.

Appliance Audits can be done remotely or virtually at the Client’s request.
