HELP QCAP’S FOOD CENTER RESPOND TO THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY

It is no question that COVID-19 impacted everyone. However, for some it has become an economic crisis.  Many of the clients we serve and other economically vulnerable individuals and families in the community are unable to afford essential needs like food or housing costs.

QCAP’s Southwest Community Food Center has been there for these individuals and families from the beginning of the pandemic and we remain open and fully operational to continue to serve the needs resulting from COVID-19. The Food Center is located at 1 Copeland Street, Quincy, MA. 02169. New clients are welcome. Please call 617-471-0796 to set up an appointment for a food order. We are open 5 days a week: M, T, Th, F: 9:00am-4:30pm; W: 11am-6:30pm. Find updates on the Food Center and other services here.

We are here to help.

QCAP’s Food Center has been on the frontlines of addressing the food insecurity caused by COVID-19. We have added more staff and purchased more food to address the need. Your help now will ensure our food assistance system remains reliable and able to assist every person who reaches out in need of our help. Here are ways you can make an impact on the people we serve:

  • Monetary donations: Your generosity will provide us the flexible funding needed to respond to added operational costs and new needs as they arise. To maintain social distancing and safety protocols, we decreased our volunteer base and added paid staff time, and purchased more food to address the increased need.
  • Food donations: We are accepting food donations from individuals, stores, and restaurants. Donations help mitigate the decrease in rescued food we would normally receive from local grocery retailers. If you wish to drop off food donations please call ahead at 617-471-0796. You can also donate items via our Amazon wishlist.
  • Host a virtual event or fundraising page: If you would like to engage family, friends, and/or colleagues in fundraising for QCAP, give us a call at 617-657-5356 and we can help you get started.
  • Raise awareness: Share us on social media. If you or someone you know is experiencing economic insecurity and is need of assistance, refer them to us.

Our supporters are a critical part of our success in serving the community. We are so thankful to those of you who have donated and reached out, and who share our mission in helping our neighbors who are at greatest risk.

Attention Snap Recipients

  • An organized “criminal ring” is stealing SNAP and DTA cash benefits by making essentially a duplicate EBT card.
Approximately 120,000 MA households have been asked to re-PIN EBT cards to protect against stolen SNAP benefits.
