HELP QCAP’S FOOD CENTER RESPOND TO THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY
QCAP’s Southwest Community Food Center is experiencing a sharp increase in new clients experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Food Center is located at 1 Copeland Street is open and fully operational. New clients are welcome. Please call 617-471-0796 for food assistance. We are open 5 days a week: M, T, Th, F: 9:00am – 4:30pm; W: 11am – 6:30pm. Find updates on the Food Center and other services here.
It is no question that COVID-19 has impacted everyone. However, for some it has become an economic crisis. Due to the business shutdowns, a significant number of residents in Quincy and surrounding areas that QCAP serves have lost jobs and are without income. Many of the clients we serve and other economically vulnerable individuals and families in the community are unable to afford essential needs like food or housing costs.
We are here to help.
The Food Center is responding at the frontlines to the sharp increase in demand for food assistance. We have added more staff and must purchase more food. Your help now will ensure our food assistance system remains reliable and able to assist every person who reaches out in need of our help. Here are ways you can make an impact on the people we serve:
- Monetary donations: Your generosity will provide us the flexible funding needed to respond to added operational costs and pressing needs as they arise. So far, due to a decrease in our volunteer base and an exponential surge in new clients, we have added paid staff time and are purchasing greater volumes of food.
- Host a virtual event or fundraising page: If you would like to engage family, friends, and/or colleagues in fundraising for QCAP, give us a call at 617-657-5308 and we can help you get started.
- Food donations: We are accepting food donations from individuals, stores, and restaurants. Donations help mitigate the decrease in rescued food we would normally receive from local grocery retailers. If you wish to drop off food donations please call ahead at 617-471-0796. You can also donate items via our Amazon wishlist.
- Raise awareness: Share us on social media. If you or someone you know is experiencing economic insecurity and is need of assistance, refer them to us.
Our supporters are a critical part of our success in serving the community. We are so thankful to those of you who have donated and reached out, and who share our mission in helping our neighbors who are at greatest risk.
